PIMBRA, or Periodontal Infection Management By Risk Assessment, is testing designed to identify a patient’s genetic risk for developing periodontitis. It also helps diagnose bacterial involvement in treating periodontal disease.
Dr. Braun will thoroughly examine your mouth by looking for bleeding, infections and inflammation of the gums. Digital radiographs will be taken to measure bone levels and screen for hidden tartar. Dr. Braun will review your medical history and family history to make sure you are not predisposed to periodontal disease. You will also be asked about habits like teeth grinding, smoking and drug and alcohol use.
By having the examination and sharing your medical history with Dr. Braun, she can help you prevent or treat periodontitis.
